Chino Hills SP

Ally

We went to Chino Hills State Park today, it was hot, but fun nonetheless. We saw lots of birds, did a 4 mile hike and got some more sweet tan lines.

I’m hoping to put up the review tomorrow sometime. Check back soon!!

New Travel blog

Hi everybody,

I decided that it might be better to have a separate blog for everything that we do, no matter whether it has to do with the state parks or not, just to keep everyone updated on our lives, since it might be hard to keep up when we’re out adventuring all the time. Here’s the new address:

amtravelblog.wordpress.com

This won’t replace this site at all, but I’ll make sure to update the main travel site to let everyone know if we have posted on the State Parks Blog.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Marc.

New Photos!

Hello everybody,

I apologize for the delay on the photos from last weekend, however I have been swamped with school work and such so I just got around to it tonight. As you’ll see, wildflower season is still out in full force, and I was able to get some great shots of some beautiful flowers! You’ll also see some amazing views of the coastline. Really a beautiful place.

Secondly, we may be having some issues with the subscription service, so if you thought you subscribed, but aren’t receiving emails, try subscribing again and make sure you click on the link in your follow up email.

Lastly, check out the large list of birds that Ally and I saw last weekend in the Point Mugu area on the Point Mugu SP page. It was really quite amazing the diversity of birds in such a small area.

Have a good weekend!

Marc

Hey everyone,

Ally just finished typing up the review of our past weekend in Point Mugu State Park. We had some troubles with camping, but overall it was an awesome time!! Check out the review and I’ll be putting up pictures soon (hopefully tomorrow). Look forward to hearing from you all this week.

Point Mugu State Park

Marc

We’re off to Point Mugu State Park today, since that’s what people voted for in the poll (I voted for Chino Hills, but my vote doesn’t count). We’re hoping it won’t be too cold…

See y’all tomorrow!!

The Parks > Southern California Parks > Anza Borrego State Park

Until next weekend, have a good week!!
A&M

Hi there,

Marc here… We decided what our first trip will be, we’ll be heading out to Anza-Borrego this weekend. We’re going to stay on night there and spend two days there as well. Gotta do some more research before we get out there, but it’s going to lots of fun.

AND AND the wildflowers are blooming, it’s gonna be freakin’ sweet as. I’m super excited…

Let you know how it goes on Sunday night/Monday,

Marc

The Plan

Here’s the plan for the next few months: Tonight I made a map of all the state parks in our area, southern california, and put it on the wall. There are 30 parks total and we will be visiting all of them.

Why are we doing this?

  • Provide a good resource for reviews of State Parks, which seems to be a bit slim.
  • To build a base of followers so that we have support when we embark on our nationwide tour of the National Parks next year.
  • To practice for blogging during that trip.

Marc: To give you an idea of where I’m coming from, I have been eager for outdoor adventure since as long as I can remember. My passion lies truly in the outdoors and everything it has to offer us. My ultimate goal in life is to experience as much of it as possible and I hope this will allow me some of that chance. I am a fine art photography major and am deeply involved in taking photos. We’re looking to buy a camcorder pretty soon, so I get to conquer that too, or try I guess. I’ll be trying to get those photos that best show what the parks have to offer. Hopefully we will be able to develop a good rating system for the parks that we visit.

Ally: I grew up in the Green Mountains of Vermont and this past summer moved to Southern California. Since I have been here I have used hiking and backpacking as an escape from the norms and stresses of everyday life. The one problem I always experience is trying to find a place to go. The resources online are so sporadic. I hope to fix that problem with reviews of the southern California state parks, and I guess I get a little something out of it too, TONS OF HIKING AND CAMPING!

First trip: this weekend. Still need to decide where we’re going to go.

Till later,

A&M
